Since a small boy I have always been attracted by pictures…the way they can tell a story.
I was bought up in a very naturist place in southern Italy. My family upbringing made me believe in the need to observe what nature is offering us…. a fallen leaf…. a cobble stone on the beach…a reflection in the water.
Since then I suppose I have always been a photographer inside myself even if I did not have the time or the camera to shoot.
Expression, movement and light are the main criteria in my photography.
“Expressive movements” I should say. The two are inseparable.
One movement of a finger can change the whole concept of an image and even fingers have expression.
I have always been an observer in every respect.
In particular I am attracted by light …the way it fuses, wraps, hits, rests on materials…. on bodies.
The way it reflects, changing the colours we see.
The way it changes mood in us all.
Sometime we take it for granted …it has always been around us. Whether in the street from a lamp post… a shop window display…. or the Mother Nature Sun.
It all started from this last one.
Humans always tried to replicate the Sun, changing radiations once they make their ways through our skies finally bouncing on our lands…
Our large studio is our land
Our models are in our landscapes
Our soft boxes, filters and honeycomb are in our skies
Our light positioning depends on our globe rotation.
These are always available for us all. We just need to be there in time or most of the time by accident …to appreciate… to contemplate.
